      I wanted to be a veterinarian and also a marine biologist. You can see a biological theme to these choices. Turns out I was better at maths than biology, so I chose an area that uses maths (my skill), biology (my subject interest) and helping people and animals (through reducing disease risks). Looked at that way – it was an inevitable choice for me.

      Yeah I think I’ve always thought I’d have some job relating to science. I liked, and was good at, maths and science at school so it made sense! But I didn’t know that I’d work on diseases until after I finished my maths degree.

      Yes, I didn’t always know I would be a doctor, but I always knew it would be something to do with science.
