We worked very intensely for a very long time on the West African Ebola epidemic (2014-2016). That was very hard work but it was also very rewarding to know that our results were going straight to the World Health Organization (WHO, the United Nations organization for health) and to people in the most affected countries (Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone). The results were informing decisions on control policy.

Professionally, my Royal College of Pathologist exams. The second part was held over four days, with two written papers, a two and a half day practical exam in the laboratory, spotter questions and essay writing. It was long, and it was tough, and I was so relieved to pass!

Personally, having a newborn baby and getting used to life without enough sleep whilst my body was recovering from labour and delivery was definitely the biggest challenge I’ve ever faced!

I think the most difficult thing I’ve done so far were my final year exams for my maths degree. Compared to the exams I had taken at school, I found my university exams more difficult. Also a lot of my friends left uni after 3 years but I carried on for an optional extra 4th year. So I found the last year tricky without them for support. But I got through it and was very proud of myself!
