Question: what would happen if the earth stopped spinning?
Asked by andra5857 to Beccy on 21 Jun 2017.
answered on 21 Jun 2017:
I am not a physicist or a geographer.
But I have done a bit of research and luckily this has been answered by people that specialise more in this field.
TLDR: it would not be good for life on earth- with the sun heating up one side (so no oceans) and freezing on the other.

It would be very bad to be left on the dark side of the earth – maybe humans could live in the twilight zone where it is not too cold/dark and not too hot/light. A Goldilocks zone. But it’s hard to imagine how global weather patterns would work. Really interesting question!!
