Question: why does pain exist ?

Pain exists to protect you.
If you didn’t feel pain when you touched a hot surface- you could be severely burnt. Or you might not know if you broke a bone.

There are some people who can’t feel pain. One reason for this is genetic:

It is very dangerous not to have pain cues to tell you to touching the hot pan or stop pushing that knife into your hand (the classic avocado injury).
