I do. I believe in our system of healthcare that is free at the point of use for all, and not driven by profit making. I wish it were realistically funded – people are living longer, and have more complex health needs as a result ( although we live longer, the extra years are not necessarily healthy years) and advances in medical technologies bring new and increasingly expensive treatments that our patients quite rightly expect access to. So, the NHS cannot continue unless there is an appropriate amount of money invested in it, and enough resources invested in training, recruiting and retaining the staff to work in it.
I would remove mid to senior management – most of these individuals have absolutely no input into the clinical issues and are simply box-tickers. This would free up monies that need to be re-invested back into the NHS.
