• Question: If the asteroid didn't hit the dinosaurs will we be extinct

      Extinct means that a species existed and then completely died out.

      It may well be that humans wouldn’t have evolved from the small mammals that survived the asteroid strike if our ancestors had to worry about getting eaten by large dinosaurs.

      That’s like an ultimate sliding doors question (did you see that film? it was repeated on the telly the other day). If such a huge and influential event in history didn’t happen, it would have enormous impact (no pun intended) on the evolution of the planet’s animals and plants. Ecosystems are so interlinked that, I agree with Christl, it is possible Homo sapiens would never have evolved at all.
