I played part (a small part in a very large international effort) to control Ebola in West Africa.
I was part of the WHO Ebola Response Team (WHO = World Health Organization).
I undertook analyses with a team at Imperial College London and we helped inform public health workers, doctors and policy makers about how Ebola was spreading, to whom and how quickly. It was a terrible thing – over 20,000 cases of Ebola virus disease and over 10,000 deaths but without hard work from a large group of people it could have been much much worse.

If taking part in I am a scientist can inspire some of you guys to go for a career in science, or even to become a medical microbiologist, then that will have been the best thing.

Hi, I’m still quite early in my career so I hope I’ll do lots more best things during my work!

The most useful thing I’ve done is improve (slightly!) the statistics that are used in part of Public Health England to make their graphs easier to interpret.

The most fun thing I’ve done is travel to Florida to meet other scientists and present my work.
